| AHW houses the health informatics consulting services of Jerry Lutgen, President of AHW. Following is a biography for Mr. Lutgen. Experience Mr. Lutgen, has extensive experience in the application of health informatics and applied statistics to a broad range of health care problems and opportunities. He gained this experience both as a company executive and as an applied information scientist. Mr. Lutgen established Applied HealthWorks (AHW) in 2005, a company whose mission it is to apply advanced health informatics methods in the pursuit of solutions to the health issues affecting the lives of millions of people. The current focus of AHW is to design, develop and distribute products to the health and fitness consumer market. AHW also houses the health informatics consulting activities of Mr. Lutgen. For the previous fifteen years Mr. Lutgen was employed by the UnitedHealth Group. UHG is a leading health and well-being services provider, providing services millions persons. His latest assignment with UHG was with the Ovations business unit. At Ovations he was part of the team that started a health and well-being services company in Europe (UnitedHealth Europe) His role was to lead the development of “health intelligence” tools that enables the National Health Service of England to implement a new care management process for high-risk patients. Before moving to Ovations, Mr. Lutgen spent thirteen years at Ingenix and its predecessor companies. Ingenix is a United Health Group subsidiary that delivers a broad range of “health intelligence” products and services to all of the key constituencies in the health care marketplace. Ingenix is now a company with revenues approaching one billion in annual sales. Mr. Lutgen held a variety of executive positions at Ingenix, including VP, Information Management and VP, Health Informatics. He was a member of the team that founded Ingenix and during his tenure at Ingenix he was very active in helping the company grow through acquisitions as well as through new product research and development. Previously, Mr. Lutgen worked at the Pillsbury company in consumer foods R&D, where he was responsible for the Human Sensory Testing, Statistics and Technical Computing Labs. At Pillsbury Mr. Lutgen was also a leader in the early adoption of Total Quality Management methods. Mr. Lutgen also worked at Medtronic, a leading developer and supplier of advanced medical devices. At Medtronic, Mr Lutgen held a variety of technical and analytic positions in new product R&D, most notably in the management and analysis of large-scale clinical trials. Education Mr. Lutgen received his bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Research Methods and a master of science degree in Health Informatics/Applied Statistics from the University of Minnesota. |
